My regular readers will forgive me for changing language for this occasion. This blog requires a broader audience.

She rides horses, tames wild male humans but is scared shitless of tiny creatures like a leeche.
Verbally strong, she has a quick response to any smart remark thrown at her. Arguing with her is utterly useless, even when she agrees you are right you will be left with the uneasy feeling of uncertainty.
Does she talk all the time? Does she produce a constant stream of non-important verbal noise like some women are known for?
No.
She will inform, enquire, suggest, correct, warn, direct, joke.
She may do so without pause throughout the entire day but it will allways be informative, entertaining or funny.
Driving behind the pack of mainly male motorcyclists (Anja is the exeption, the following does not apply to her) she has a good view of them all and observes their actions.
Men have a unique quality where it comes to motorcycles. As soon as they mount one an instant transformation takes place. A mysterious chemical, so far unknown to science, is released in their brain blocking all the years of life experience and acquired wisdom (if any). In effect, they become boys once again. Put a number of them together and you will need strong leadership to avoid potential disaster.
If Augustine was not Augustine she would be ignorent of these matters, however she is Augustine. Having observed the group for many days now it was time for corrective action.
Yesterday morning she assembled them before the ride of the day in order to inform them of her concerns. Australian traffic rules were explained. Encouragement to obey them was offered. Certain riding habits strongly disapproved.
The gangmembers all knod in humble agreement and take off to attack the horizon on the long path to rider adulthood.
Augustine follows again and reads the map, organises accomodation and looks after our daily needs.
Even from the back of the pack, she gives direction, like the eskimo leads the pack of dogs before the sled.
She is the leader. She is the OZkimo.

    Aart L.:

    Dear Henk,
The change of language was a good choice. Now all adventures cycle the world.
    See you ... !

    Paul:

Wow old man, you're even more eloquent in English than you are in Dutch it seems. Keep up the good work. Maybe there is a writer hidden under that biker shell after all. When will the first book appear?

By the way, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance would be a good read for the pack, either during or after the adventure down under.

    Take care
